Doug & Janice Bell
Both were radically saved in a Methodist church in Failsworth, Manchester at the age 30, through a group of young people who were on fire for God. Since that time they have both had a passion in their hearts to share this love and see lives transformed through the saving grace and healing power of the Lord.
Called to Wales
In 1984 the Lord called them to Wales, where this nation has become their home.
A heart for young people
Ever since being saved they have had a burning desire to see young people’s lives transformed and for them to carry a love and passion for God and as a result of this they spent most of their earlier Christian lives leading youth groups.
Leadership role
In 1998 they were invited to take on the roles of the Senior pastors of New Life Church, which they accepted and have always believed that to hold these positions is a privilege and an honour.
Doug
Made a commitment to Jesus at the age 12 and then didn’t do anything with it. He always believed in God, so when he met with people who were living what in his heart he knew to be true, he gave his life again to Jesus and committed himself to following Him daily.
Doug is a Worshipper
He loves to worship God. When he was first saved he would sit and cry through the old hymns that told the great truths of a Saviour who loves the world so much that He gave His life for us. Today he leads worship in the church and has written many anointed songs from his heart of love and passion for God. He believes each person has a song in their heart for God and encourages everyone to release that song, because of this many in the church, not just in the worship team or even those musically gifted, have written inspiring songs of love and praise to God.
He is a visionary
He has a vision to see the love in the church worked out in practical ways in the community. The Projects came from this desire to touch the community with the practical love of Jesus.
He is practical
Doug keeps New Life Christian Centre going with his practical skills. He, along with some very valuable help has made New Life Christian Centre into a very attractive and functional place, transformed from a furniture warehouse to a home for the New Life Church, a place where Cardigan Christian School meets and where a welcome is given for anyone who needs a helping hand or a chat.
Janice
Was brought up in a home where God was never spoken about and didn’t know anything about Him, but when their oldest son started going to Sunday school and talking about Jesus all the time, she wanted to know more. She found it difficult to believe in the Bible and ever more difficult when she was asked to teach it in Sunday School, but through the patience of people who loved her she decided that if God was real then she wanted to know Him, and one night asked Jesus into her life, where not only did something happen inside but the Lord gave her a gift of faith that opened up the word of God where it became a living reality to her.
Janice is passionate
She has a passion in her heart to share the love of God with everyone and loves nothing more than to teach, preach and inspire others through the word and love of God into living a life that reflects His glory. To experience and welcome the Holy Spirit giving Him time and following His lead. It is her desire to see everyone Christian healed, equipped and fulfilling their full potential in Christ. She enjoys releasing the prophetic and seeing the Body of Christ built up, strengthened and encouraged.
She is a visionary
Along with Doug, Janice sees the church touching the community where they live with the love of God in practical ways. It is also their desire to see every child taught and brought up in the ways of God. After ten years of carrying a vision to open a Christian school this has now become a reality.
She is practical
Janice has a gift of administration and oversees the management of the Centre, Projects and School along with a very dedicated team of people.
Mentoring
They both have a strong passion to mentor the next generation and to prepare leaders for now and the future.
Their Joint Vision for the Nation of Wales
It is to see this nation fulfil the calling of God, to be transformed to His glory and carry the love and fire of His Holy Spirit into the nations of the world. Believing that as this is worked out in the local areas where the Lord has called people to be, there will be a joining together across the nation to make a whole.
Networking
They have a heart for networking and building relationships and believe that no one place or person is enough it needs everyone and all the visions joined together to make the picture complete.
Timing
They believe the time is now, it is a day of breakthrough and acceleration, where the love and power of God can bring transformation in our day.
The Nations
They have a heart for the nations and just as they see Wales being a place of relational networking they also see the nations doing the same thing.
Romania
They lived for two years in Romania as missionaries. For them this was the training ground of learning how to depend on the Lord in every circumstance and situation and finding out the reality of what happens when you are squeezed, facing the truth of what comes out and the challenge of dealing with it. (One day they may write a book on the reality of being a missionary).
Poland
At the present time they take teams out into Poland where they are partnering with a church and supporting the work there.
Other Nations
They also have relationships with some very special people in other nations including Canada, USA, Brazil, Netherlands, India, Africa and Hong Kong.
